Pricing Questions

Q: How much does it cost to paint a house in Melbourne?

The cost of a house repaint in Melbourne depends on the size of your home, the condition of surfaces, the number of storeys, and the paint system used. Interior and exterior repaints are quoted separately. We provide a free on-site quote with a line-by-line scope of work.

No. We provide free on-site quotes for all residential painting work in our 20 service suburbs. We inspect the surfaces, discuss your requirements, and send a written quote within 48 hours.

We use premium Dulux trade-grade paint, not cheap alternatives. We apply a minimum of two coats on every surface. We spend significant time on surface preparation, which is where the quality difference shows. We also carry $10 million public liability insurance and offer a 5-year workmanship warranty. These cost more to provide.

Process Questions

A single room takes 1 to 2 days. A full 3-bedroom interior takes 5 to 10 days. A full exterior takes 1 to 3 weeks depending on size and preparation. We give you a timeline estimate with your quote.
No. We work room by room and keep disruption to a minimum. We protect floors and furniture with drop sheets. Most homeowners stay in the house during interior painting.
A minimum of two topcoats on every surface. If changing from a dark colour to a light colour, we apply a tinted undercoat first, then two topcoats. This is required for the Dulux product warranty and for a consistent, durable finish.1

Yes. We are VBA registered as a Domestic Builder (Painting and Decorating). We carry $10 million public liability insurance. We are a member of the Master Painters Association Victoria. We provide proof of insurance and registration on request.

Pre-Sale Painting Questions

Yes. Interior painting has an average ROI of 107% in Melbourne, meaning you get more than a dollar back for every dollar spent. Freshly painted homes sell 25% to 32% faster and attract offers 3% to 5% higher. On a $1.5 million home, that is $30,000 to $75,000 in added value from a $6,000 to $10,000 investment.

Ideally 2 to 4 weeks before your first open home. This gives time for painting, touch-ups, styling, and photography. Contact us early to secure your preferred dates, especially in spring and autumn when demand is highest.
Neutral warm whites. Dulux Natural White is the most popular choice. Dulux Lexicon Quarter and Dulux White on White are also strong options. Avoid bold colours, dark feature walls, and personal colour preferences. You want buyers to picture their own furniture in the space.

Scheduling and Availability

Interior painting works year-round. Exterior painting is best from September to May when temperatures are above 10 degrees and rain is less frequent. Winter is a good time to book interior work at slightly reduced rates.
In peak season (September to December), we recommend booking 4 to 6 weeks in advance. In quieter months (June to August), we often have shorter lead times. Call to check current availability.
